Prayer for the King, Pro Rege in Solemnitátibus from a Jacobite Manuscript of c.1740.

From an excellent article on the hymn Adeste Fideles on the excellent Hymnology archive, we find that John Francis Wade (Johannes Franciscus Wade, 1710/11–1786) also wrote a Domine Salvum fac that can be found in the same 1740’s manuscript that the earliest edition of the Hymn Adeste Fideles. This has been scanned from a Jacobite manuscript, and was reproduced in Dom John Stephan, Adeste Fideles (1947).

This has the Gloria Patri that is no longer part of our modern prayer for the King, we have produced a modern edition that can be sung for the present king Charles. Other settings can be found here and here.
